I have seen what proper nutrition can do for the health of my patients, family and friends.

As a Certified Nutrition Specialist, I am a daily advocate of eating a healthy diet as one of the key components of living a long, happy, healthy and disease-free life. I have been preaching this to my patients and to millions of listeners via the radio for almost 20 years. However, this is a very difficult task in today’s society. Most of us are so busy we must eat on the run and the majority of fast food we consume is overly processed, genetically modified and non organically grown. The levels of pesticides that are on a good portion of the produce we consume is cause for alarm.

I try to teach people to stay away from the “dirty dozen” fruits and vegetables unless you know they are organically grown due to the high amounts of pesticide that have actually been detected not only on the surface but in the cellular structure of this group of fruits and vegetables. I recommend paying a little extra and buying this group of fruits and vegetables organically grown. The potential chronic long term build up of these pesticides in our bodies is detrimental to our health.

Many of us that are working so many hours don’t have the time or we don’t have the availability to shop for this organically grown produce. The cost of organically raised produce is also a deterrent on anyone that has a fixed income.

I have recently been introduced to a relatively new system of growing the necessary fruits and vegetables in a fashion that makes a lot of health and economic sense. This new system allows the household to be pro active and take control of their future health.

This is a vertical hydroponic growing system called Living Towers. I was absolutely amazed at how simple and inexpensive it is to grow a healthy garden with a variety of fruits, herbs and vegetables in a very small amount of area. The Living Towers hydroponic system is soil free and uses a proprietary nutrient system delivered in a constant trickling of water over the root system.

Any household can now have an organic garden right at their finger tips. The phyto-nutrient value is much higher if the fruits or vegetables are eaten relatively soon after they are harvested. Much of the produce you purchase at the local super market may be one to two weeks old before you purchase it. You are also putting your trust and faith in someone else’s hands when purchasing these products from a grocery store.

I recommend eating 10-12 servings of organically grown fruits and vegetables on a daily basis. These new hydroponic vertical growing systems will enable the average household to produce the fruits, vegetables and herbs they need to stay healthy. The cost savings by having it at your own home is tremendous but the peace of mind you will get knowing the quality of produce your family is getting is the highest possible is priceless.

Now just a few steps from their kitchens consumers will be able to pick the amount and variety of fruits and vegetables they need for each meal.
